The Enchanting Garden

This piece was composed in 2000 and is scored for flute, oboe and Bb clarinet.

To understand the music it is necessary to understand the story behind the composition. A beautiful young maiden awakes one morning and walks down into a beautiful garden where she immediately falls under its spell. She dances around enjoying the pretty flowers and butterflies until she suddenly awakens from the spell and runs back indoors.

The opening section (oboe) represents her waking and descending the stairs, the pretty garden is depicted by a variety of pretty dance-like music (listen for her shaking the bell-like flowers), and then her abrupt awakening from the spell can be heard before she runs up the stairs and indoors, finally closing the door behind her!
